Keep candle free of any foreign materials including matches, and only burn the candle on a level, fire resistant surface. Do not burn candle for more than four hours at a time. Stop use when only 1/4" of wax remains.
When lighting a wooden wick candle, the best technique is to tilt candle on an angle and let the flame draw across the length of the wick. It may also take several tries to get the candle lit. The heat from the flame needs to draw the wax through the wick before a consistent burning is achieved.
The first burn is the most important. Our candles should burn initially for 3 hours (1 hour for every inch in diameter). If a candle is not burned long enough to allow the wax to liquefy or to melt from edge to edge of the container, this action will create a memory ring. Once a candle has a memory ring, the burning will continue to tunnel for the life of the candle.
